Egham, UK, 17th July 2017 –Triometric, the leading provider of XML business intelligence to the online travel industry is pleased to announce its participation in the Next Generation (NG) Distribution Messaging Workgroup set up by HTNG (Hospitality Technology Next Generation), a global association addressing the emerging technology needs of the hotel and leisure industry. Its mission is to foster collaboration and partnership between hoteliers and technology vendors in the development of next generation systems and solutions that can help the industry meet the challenges of the next decade and the new Workgroup is an example of putting this ethos into action.
This Workgroup, focussing on the messaging methods within the hotel distribution supply chain, has the mission to identify and examine the connectivity of open source and proprietary messaging standards evolving in the travel industry. Existing standards being considered include IATA’s New Distribution Capability (NDC) and the OpenTravel Alliance 2.0 object model. Both NDC and OpenTravel 2.0 introduce the notion of Offers and Orders that brings the industry closer to a world of true retailing, enabling a richer booking experience and greater opportunities for cross-selling and up-selling, resulting in increased value. Both messaging standards are based on the XML communication language which makes content and media rich data sharing across different systems and platforms easier.
Triometric, a niche provider of XML analytics to the travel industry, joined the group to offer its unique and extensive experience of XML messaging and standards as well as the implementation and monitoring of APIs, often regarded as the plumbing of the travel supply chain.
The workgroup has attracted a wide range of interested stakeholders from members and non-members of HTNG. It comprises member representatives from hotel chains and technology companies as well as subject matter experts from IATA and the OpenTravel Alliance, and large online travel organisations with proprietary standards who are not members of the association. During regular meetings the group shares their collective experiences and research to identify and examine both open source and proprietary standards. The aim is to share with the HTNG Board and subsequently all members of HTNG perspectives on any identified gaps in existing specifications and the potential benefits, impacts and alignment opportunities that these evolving standards present.
“Joining the HTNG Next Generation Distribution Workgroup demonstrates Triometric’s commitment to sharing our XML and JSON-based experience and expertise,” said Matthew Goulden, CEO at Triometric. “We are delighted to be able to participate in a Workgroup that is committed to finding the right messaging solutions to the challenges faced by the industry and we look forward to playing our part in those areas where we can add knowledge and value”.
